Govt’s stern action needed to complete Melamchi project soon: Chairman Dahal

Kathmandu (RSS) Chairman of Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said it would be difficult to accomplish Melamchi Drinking Water Project if the government did not take any strong step.Chairman Dahal said, “The Prime Minister has shown his eagerness to complete the project. Minister and Secretary are also active for the same. But problems have surfaced in the project. The government should take stern decision to immediately resolve the problems.”

Inaugurating the first convention of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited Employees Organisation, he however argued that a group of people has been obstructing the project and the government should take stern step to book them.The NCP Chairman expressed the belief that the government would take decision soon in order to complete the project even after making alternative arrangement.

“Works for the construction of tunnel were complete. Construction of physical infrastructures at Sundarijal reached final stage. However, it will take sometimes to complete the project. Why such situation has been created,” he wondered.

Saying a trend has developed in dillydallying the project, Chairman Dahal pointed out the need of support from all to put an end to such trend. According to him, Melamchi Drinking Water Project has been suffering chronic problems. Treatment is necessary for it, the Chairman stressed.
